Cross of Reality Volumes
The power to make peace or war is divine. The power to wage war, or to work in peace is human.
October 14, 1953 Cross of Reality - 1953 is an introduction to Rosenstock-Huessy’s sociology, and covers the major points broached in Speech and Reality; it also covers some of the material from Soziologie I. Rosenstock-Huessy outlines his method of analyzing human social institutions: to examine on the one hand their traditions and faiths and on the other their subjective and objective aspects. That four-fold approach is the social analytical tool Rosenstock-Huessy calls the "Cross of Reality". This series concentrates on the topics of play, war, law, industry, political economy, post-war global economy, the role of economies in peace, the family, speech in society, women in society, and religion. Lecture 7 has a good presentation of speech-thinking. Cross of Reality - 1965 is a tightly woven, succinct statement of the core concept of the "Cross of Reality". These transcripts are an excellent basis for word searches, to compare what Rosenstock-Huessy had to say on a particular topic or on related topics, either in different contexts across nearly 20 years. DVDs are produced to order, which can take up to 5 weeks.
