A Classic and a Founder – Revised and Annotated (FREE download)
This new edition of a 1937 pamphlet by Rosenstock-Huessy looks at science through the lives of Michael Faraday and Theophrastus Paracelsus von Hohenheim. But this paper is not about electromagnetism, light, chemistry, and 16th-century medicine.
Rosenstock-Huessy instead builds his house of human social history on a foundation of Faraday’s research diaries and von Hohenheim’s groundbreaking writings – and on their biographies.
This 2008 edition is a novel approach to making Rosenstock-Huessy’s work easy to understand and to explore. Numerous footnotes and an annotator’s appendix provide live links to the Internet, enabling readers directly to access not only the source material Rosenstock-Huessy used, but also other relevant works.
The annotations and appendix also provide extended excerpts of items Rosenstock-Huessy only briefly mentions in the text; evidence of new scholarship relating to his ideas; and illustrations of the 50 forms of plant life that surrounded von Hohenheim as a child growing up in Switzerland. And finally, the original text has been revised for stylistic consistency and clarity.
This new edition is the work of Frances Huessy, the transcriber of all of Rosenstock-Huessy’s English-language lectures. Click here for a FREE, downloadable copy with interactive links. More information is also available. Should you prefer it, a spiral-bound softcover edition is available for $9 plus shipping; and a CD with the interactive links is available for $5 plus shipping. For either of these items, please click here.
The Collected Works of Eugen Rosenstock-Huessy on DVD
The
Collected Works of Eugen Rosenstock-Huessy on DVD, a single compendium of
everything Rosenstock-Huessy ever published, along with all of the transcribed
lectures, are now available for use with any computer equipped with a DVD
drive. This puts some 660 publications right on your desk or in your lap –
and your computer can search all the works for words or phrases.
The searchable DVD allows you to access each book, paper, or lecture as if
you had bought a large new bookcase and filled it with all of Rosenstock-Huessy's
works, and added an indexing system that is more useful than a card catalog.
Further, with a click of your mouse button, you can compare the different
contexts Rosenstock-Huessy used on any particular topic, just by telling your
computer to show you all of the relevant pages specific to your search.
Best of all, this new Rosenstock-Huessy library is far more affordable, at
$75 (plus shipping), than even the bookcase itself. Click here

Clinton C. Gardner
Christian Century editor Martin Marty lauds Eugen Rosenstock-Huessy as “a visionary… [who] writes about… Christianity without old-line appeal to transcendence.” Now Clinton Gardner presents Rosenstock-Huessy’s work as “additional scaffolding” for the new Christian paradigm being constructed by New Testament scholar Marcus Borg, retired Episcopal Bishop John Shelby Spong, and many others.
